PRESS RELEASE

Dagmar De Pooter Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition by Californian artist Jessica Ballenger. “Little Monsters” is the first solo show by Ballenger who designed the installation specifically for the gallery’s basement space. The artist combines photographs integrated in wallpaper and domestic objects in a life sized dollhouse while a triptych mirror forms the basis for another work. Images created during family holidays and childhood objects create an interactive environment for exploring mankind’s psychological development and existential progress. According to curator Gianluca Ranzi “Ballenger’s is an art of struggle, utterly and directly in contact with the forces that mould existence, whether evil or good. This awareness considers the necessity to found an artistic image capable of resisting. In order to realize a three-dimensional form of struggle between the self and the world, the artist chooses to build an environment that stages fears and strengths, fetishes and physical countenance…basically everything.” Little Monsters opens on March 11 and runs from March 12-April 24 at:
